Dark Souls - Chaos Cleric Build

I've been experimenting a bit and there's been quite a number of different builds around the game. Tanking builds with high STR, Sorcerer build with high INT, thief build that centres around backstabbing and poison/bleed effects, pyro builds and high DEX builds for curved swords, etc.

Only recently decided to craft my 3rd character, and plan its progress so that I will get what I want for this  build. As the title suggests, it will be based on cleric faith and pyro/chaos abilities. Some thoughts that went into this:

- I had a melee build recently, decided to go for one casts magic.

- In my opinion, you can never have a true battle mage build, because of the Attunement attribute that takes up a considerable amount of levels. If you want a melee guy with an imba INT/FAI based weapon, then you won't be able to cast that many spells. Just my opinion. As a result, not only do you have to choose the weapon you want ultimately, you also have to choose the spells you want. I decided to sacrifice on the weapons.

- Chaos build will only work if you have many humanity. In my experience, it's easy to attain that if you go coop help kill bosses. Some bosses are highly cooperative like Quelaag, Ornstein & Smough, 4 kings and Centipede Demon. Being in Way of the White or Sunbro covenants also makes coop easier to establish. With all the humanity obtained, >10, chaos weapons will be quite good.

- Pyro is especially good against AI enemies, even after patch. But in getting good pyro and chaos damage will take a while. It is thus advisable to increase VIT and END in the beginning stages, together with the stats the weapons require.

The list of weapons I ultimately chose is, in order of progression,

Washing pole STR 20  DEX 16
Dragonslayer Bow STR 20 DEX 20
Crescent ax   STR 18 DEX 12 FAI 16

Great Artorias Sword    STR 24    DEX 18  INT & FAI 20
Gravelord sword STR24    DEX 13
Zweilahnder STR 24
Manserpent sword STR 24

They are split into 3 main stages. Initial weapons require STR 16 and DEX 14, which is acceptable and allows you to increase VIT & END initially. By the end of the game, I will ultimately only need STR24, DEX,INT 20 in order to use all these weapons. Faith will be the stat to max out to hopefuly ~50, eventually targetting for a soul level <100. This places a looser restriction on the stat levelling and more focus can be placed on buying miracle,pyro,vit, end and attunement.

Crescent Ax will be the best Faith based weapon, and I'm targetting at Great artorias sword hopefully getting it. INT 20 will be the last target to achieve.

STR 24, DEX 20, INT 20, FAI 30, ATT 23

(if higher Faith, will sacrifice Int)

As for magic, I will be focussing on
Canvas talisman (possess as cleric starting class)
Acended Pyro hand +5

Great Lightning Spear
Force, Emit Force, Wrath of Gods
Gravelord Sword Dance

Great combustion
Fire Orb
Great Fireball
Fire Tempest

All these require only 1 slot, and ultimate ATT 23 I will have 6 to play with.
Because of the targets, covenants and NPCs will play a very important role. I will need to complete some stories, and join the covenants in certain fixed order to facilitate faster progression.

I will need to meet Siegmeyer in firelink to get Emit Force
I will need to unlock Quelaana, ascend pyro hand, buy her pyros, kill Bed of Chaos and meet her in order to get Fire Tempest.
I will need to complete Solaire's story for izalith shortcut and get sunlight maggot for Tomb of Giants.

For covenant, the order should be:
- Forest to get ninja ring, buy curved swords & shotel
- Gravelord to get Gravelord Sword and Gravelord Sword Dance
- Chaos servant to unlock izalith shortcut
- Darkmoon (optional) to get blue eye orb
- Sunbro (final covenant) for coop and increase humanity for chaos weapons

I'm now just at the Depths, hopefully will obtain my final build and enjoy coop as much as possible :)
