Western vs Eastern Romance

This year we have two RPGs of all time.

One is western RPG (Bethesda) in Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Full blown environment, music, sounds, lore, and detail down to every last plate (no, serious). Complex and deep character development system and very long playing hours. You cannot but fall in love with the world.

Other is eastern RPG (From Soft) in Dark Souls. Gruelling, hard, but ultra satsifying. Gives you that lonely but never alone feeling with equally immersive environments. The story is not spoonfed to you, but information are strewn all across the land, in the item descriptions, through conversations with NPCs. Bit by bit you see the picture and the other minor stories related to the people in the world. And eventually you discover the world, the lore.

So you see, one is full display of glamour, the other is ever so passive, letting you do the revealing by yourself.

I'd personall pick the latter. Eastern romance prevails for me. GOTY is GOTY :)
